Here's an inspiring story about the power of ed. tech: Florida schools have seen an influx of Haitian students as a result of the devastating earthquake in their country. Certainly a difficult and challenging situation both for the schools and the students. One school system, Miami-Killian, has dozens of Study Buddy handhelds from Florida-based company Brainchild, which are like handheld game devices with learning titles in language arts, math and science, with each available in many different languages including Haitian Creole, the native language of these Haitian students. Maybe in a small way it helps ease their trauma and gives some sense of normalcy. Pretty cool. Read the release here.
